Full Version: 0x00000116 Nvidia Graphics Driver failing

This one error alone has made me lose all faith in Vista because I know it's at least partly to blame. I'm really sick of this error.

Sometimes when I start up Vista, after I login it either freezes or it doesn't. Sometimes BSOD, sometimes not. Windows says it's the graphics drivers and I already reinstalled it and everything. I'm using beta 169.28 Nvidia drivers because it contains a UT3 stuttering fix that is important to me.

I don't really think it's only because it's a beta driver since I haven't read anything about this happening to other people.

Basically, the graphics driver either successfully boots up or fails. When it's successful, all of my games run perfect and so does Vista so I don't know why it's happening.

Please help!

NOTE: I have to boot up 3 or 4 times to do this and when it's successful I don't get the same stop error or BSOD in any of my games, infact I get no errors and it runs well.

sounds like a temperamental power supply, whats the amp specs on it?

It might be the RAM that is defective. Did you run MemTest86 on it?

I don't much about power supplies but I know it's a good one, here's what I have: http://www.newegg.com/product/product.aspx...N82E16817703005

I don't see how it could be defective if it works well after I can boot up but I'll still run the memory test. MemTest86 doesn't support 64 bit, what else can I use?

edit: I just ran the memory test from the Vista install disc and it detected no errors from my memory.

sad to say, you'll have to wait till nvidia fixes it (if ever).

read my thread if anything at all becomes familiar: http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=59513

It's not exactly the same because when I successfully boot up like I said I don't get errors or lockups in games or by using Vista normally. It only happens when I login in, just not all the time and when it doesn't happen it's smooth sailing. When it does then I just have to restart my computer, sometimes multiple times.

I don't seem to recall this happening to me with the latest non-beta 169.25 drivers (it may have), but I'd like to keep the one I have for UT3.
