I just recently upgraded to windows vista 32-bit and everytime i try to play the hellgate london beta, either on the login menu or in the opitions menu(pause) ill move my mouse the slightest bit and the monitor just shuts off for a few seconds then comes back on and windows vista says nvlddmkm has stopped responding and sucessfully recovered, it will do this everytime i move the mouse until eventually my computer just crashes. Ive searched for fixes all over different forums including this one and havent gotten an actual fix since everything i found reguarding nvlddmkm is really old. If anyone has any way to fix this please let me know. DXdiag is attached.

Beta or the Demo? The makers of the game have already admitted to a slew of bugs and issues with the beta of the game. But the demo seems to run fine. Have you thought about the latest drivers for your card? Do you have all the Vista hotfixes?

Both beta and demo. I tried them both. I have the latest drivers i believe which are 163.69 and vista hotfixes, i know i got one because the game kept saying i didnt meet requirements but if theres more than that, no.

try beta 163.75 i had no crashes in the demo played for hours.
vista hotfixes are not the cure for everything in fact they can produce
new problems. E.G stability update can cause harddisk failure due to
powermangement bug, which will let your drive spin down, park, unpark,
spin up every couple of minutes, regardless of the energy settings you chose.
kernel security update patch can produce crashes with copyprotection schemes,
punkbuster, anti virus programs, games, you name it.

i tried beta 163.75 and it still happens
acutally...without drivers installed at all my computer instead of recovering over and over again will just lock up and crash at the login screen.
Im not sure if it has to do with the drivers as much as it has to do with vista itself, because on xp everything was perfect

After playing with it for a little bit this morning ive found that if i change ANYTHING in the graphics options before my pc crashes itll stop completely. But if i exit the game and start it up again it will still give me the problem until i change something in the options again. very strange stuff going on here.

I was able to fix mine with new RAM. I was having that error all the time could not run any games. I also got blue screens. Go to
http://www.memtest.org/ and download memtest+ v1.7. Run it and see if it finds any errors. My OZC SLI ready memory was bad and new RAM fixed it completely. Now I'm so happy. Makes me want to spread the love!

nvlddmkm errors... welcome to the club.
Google it and see what you get, a lot of possible solutions but no one knows it for sure. Some people that I know have had the problem for several months now.
I switched from Vista back to XP and I still got the lockups every 5-10 min into ANY game. So I assume the lockups was the XP version of nvlddmkm.
after trying everything, and I do mean everything I gave up. That day I read a post from someone saying he underclocked his GPU. So I tried that and the system is running fine ever since...
So I don't know what GPU you have, but try it, maybe it works for you aswell like for a lot of people on this forum already.

I have only had the nvlddmkm error in one program so far. I am praying it doesn't happen to me in Hellgate. If it does I guess the game will be shelved awhile.
The only fix I found and I am not sure its a fix is completely uninstalling the Nvidia drivers 163.xx. It seems I get that error in Madden 2008, along with strange textures. I found a driver that seems to work. No strange graphical anomalies, bsods like 163.75 gave me, or nvlddmkm. I went back to 162.22 for vista x64.
I did several ways of trouble shooting, new memory, rma a graphics card that was a week old. Try 1 stick, make sure all hotfixes in, and dx10 updated. Hell I can't tell you how many times I did a fresh reinstall and the latest being today. My computer is barely a month old, but with this issue I got to know it intimately.
Anyhow I hope the fix of uninstalling the current Nvidia driver you have, then following the details laid out in drivercleaner.net, yes I donated to the cause I was desperate. I was able to play madden properly with no issues in game and no issues appearing in the problem and solutions.
I must have written books to microsoft saying they shouldn't just pass the buck and say its an Nvidia issue. In my opinion and by no means am I an expert I believe it is solely a vista or 64 bit software issue and the root of the problem is Microsoft.
I will continue to stand by Microsoft and Nvidia but any chance I get to give Microsoft a piece of my mind if there self-help helped me. I give it to them.
Hope I could help someone and let me know if the fix works for Hellgate. I am hesistant to buy any new games at the moment for fear I will get this crazy error yet again.

Sorry, lol that bsod info post just made me a litte queezy.
Look I had the nvlddmkm driver display error for about a month. It was a TDR however not BSOD. The only way I fixed my problem was underclocking my gpu (this was because it was factory overclocked, and was unstable)
I really have no idea what to do about a bsod nvlddmkm error. I'm sorry it is happening for you, i really do know your pain. But hang in there and keep trying and eventually you will get it fixed

it was the most popular, easiest overclocker to use for nvidia cards but since the 16's it doesnt work

Well you can try RivaTuner. I dont know if underclocking your card will help at all though. I never got a BSOD when i got my TDR's just a black screen, a sound loop, then i would have to task manager out of the game

Coagulated what are your system specs...just trying to see if anything in my specs are similar. I too got a nvlddmkm bsod much like you said while playing madden. It was the 163.75 drivers that caused it. And this was done after my billionth reformat and reinstall. Madden 2008 was where my issues started in Vista 64 ultimate so it was my testbed for success (knocks on wood) I tried everything I could think of. I tested each 163.xx series nvidia driver. 163.75 was the only driver that would cause me that bsod but the other 163 series did cause a nvlddmkm error.
I had to roll back to 162.22 those drivers were stable before I upgraded. Well at least I thought they were, once again today I experience a crash in madden. This time it wasn't a nvlddmkm error. It was an app crash. I was a little pissed but I collected myself. I thought to myself...did I exhaust every possible solution. The one thing I neglected was t0 put my fan speed at 100% with riva tuner. Mind you this card is not even a day old, I rma'ed my old one back to evga.
Once I put the fan speed to 100% and rebooted. I load into Madden 2008 and no issues. I am not sure why it fixed it all my system temps are very good and very stable when folding. I fold almost 24/7 so again I scratch my head what goes on in a game like madden that would cause an 8800 to do this when the card should be able to run very hot. My card is not overclocked nor was it ever. But as I stated the fan speed thing seems to fix things.
Just my 2 coppers.

Check this post.
http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?s...t=20&p=270310&I had to stick with 162.22 until I found this post. Mind you I was hesistant to try this crap yet again, but I did. I used to get crazy TDRs when playing any current EA Sports game such as Madden 2008 and Tiger Woods 2008. I would get BSODs/Graphic Anomalies/Texture Changes/TDR/NVLDDMKM issues.
I went to great lengths to try and troubleshoot it even going as far as rmaing my brand new 8800 ultra. As I stated I could use no driver greater than 162.22.
I even used drivercleaner and followed their instructions no dice.
But doing things as stickywulf outlined I can use the newest beta 163.75 in Madden where as just a few days prior I couldn't. But do note that I also did download the newest patch to DX10 on 10/24/2007 so that could be a possibility as well.
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=enJust thought I would put up a post for a very frustrating bug for me that I hopefully never see again.
At least I got to know my system intimately.

Doh graphic anomaly once again in madden. The textures change funky colors with the 163 drivers. Well it was good while it lasted. At least I can roll back to the 162.22 drivers so not a total loss.
Thanks again anyway sticky appreciate the efforts. In my opinion may be an issue between those drivers and EA.
