Hi!

It could be worth a try.

You need Riva Tuner 2.01.

And a Quadro FX4600 driver.

Driver cleaner professional software.

After installing Riva Tuner. Go to the settings menue.
And set Riva Tuner, to start with Windows.

Then, click the button right under where your card is listed. Then click the ikon with the video card.

Now, check the box " Use ROM Straps for PCI Device programming"

And change the "Graphic adapter identification" from Geforce to Quadro.

And activate " Unlock professional capabilitys". Leave the other settings as they are.

Uninstall the old Forceware driver in Windows control panel.

Then run Driver Cleaner pro.
Activate "use multiple filter setting" in the cleaner. And then, add : Nvidia, Nvidia WDM and Nvidia stereo.

Start cleaning and reboot.

Install the Quadro driver and reboot. Try some different update frequensys for the monitor when adjusting the driver settings after this. My 7950GT / Quadro FX 3500, works best at 72 MHz.

Hopefully, you now have the best of 2 worlds! The Quadro cards image quality. And the 8800 cards power.

I gained a noticable image quality improvement.
Never had so many headshots in BF 2 playing as sniper before with the 7950GT as with this, soft modded Quadro FX 3500.

Sorry that did'nt work. You could try this driver that is both Geforce and Quadro compatible, and see if it helps?

http://www.megaupload.com/se/?d=NT1ZDZ7X

But you will have to redo the uninstalling and cleaning of the Quadro driver you installed before.

Also, the window in R.T. " Graphics adapter identification" where you did change the Geforce to Quadro.

Try set it to Custom" and scroll down, and see if you can find the Quadro FX 4600?

Then, if you find it? Set that and reboot.

ERmmm, sorry but im just curious.
So you can soft mod any geforce card into a quadro card, and the result is better image quality withouth loss of perfomance?
Sounds interesting

Hi!

Well, the loss is maybe 3 -5 fps in games like FEAR. A small over clock can fix this.
And the gain in IQ is worth this small loss.

I know this can be done to 7900GS, 7900GT and GTO , 7950GT and 8800GTS at least.
This, as they are close to identical with the Quadros.

Can I try that on my passive 8600GT? Won't there be risk of overheating or something?

No, no temp problems at all.

My 7950GT /FX 3500, idles 42 C and max load is 58C. And I'm running the fan in games at 75 %.

Seems the Quadro equvalent of 8600GT hasn't been released yet. Accordinlgy, neither has the driver.

Moding Gefroce 8800 to Quadro is no more possible. See link below.

http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=243358

I try it. Otherwise Windows Vista recognize my Geforce as Quadro GPU, also ViewPerf results are realy low (sw-01 about 8.0 thumbsdown.gif ) (equal as in Geforce mode). But Solidworks can work in RealView mode! That is only benefit from moding 8800 to Quadro.

Buy you old 6800GT and moding into Quadro. This realy work!

hi peeps. im new here and im wondering if i would be able to softmod my 7900GT to a Quadro. any chances of doing that?
i've tried doing as described by wolf, but at the stage of installing the quadro driver, it says something like not recognizing any hardware on my system and will abort.
