Hi all

I recently purchased a samsung Syncmaster 226BW 22" monitor and I'm getting and odd graphical issue with it.

It's hard to describe but it's a kind of tearing in the middle of the screen. A horizontal line will appear and objects are shifted out of place. It's like a wave effect through out the screen where part of the image has problem keeping up. This only happens during games and on applications. If i drag note pad the entire thing will ripple slightly.

I'm running a 8800GTS 640 MB, 2 gigs of Ram and a AMD2 5200+

The monitor is on it's native resolution of 1680 x 1050 at 60MHz

This monitor is new I had a Viewsonic 19" CRT before this and had no problem with that.
I have replaced this monitor 2 times once through the store and once through samsung themselves. All with the same problem. So I'm drawing the conclusion that it's my 8800 GTS

I have the latest Nvidia drivers and played around with Vsync. That's about all I have done to troubleshoot this

Any help is appreciated as I'm pulling my hair out.

Thank You and sorry for the long post.

Hi,

Any luck with this issue? I'm have the exact same issue.

I have the exact same Samsung 226BW c panel series and a XFX 8800gts 320mb v/c.

It's very annoying...

i read a couple of these probs, im wondering if there all the same model. there are 3 models made by 3 companys or put together by 3 companys, one is samsung and the other is au optronics and the third is cmo! you thought you were buying a samsung but i believe that they got behind so they contactred another company to put together the lcds. in tests the s model ( samsung) was better than the a model ( au optronics). there was a colour difference i believe. A third version of this screen has also just appeared in Asia and the US, the “C”, which stands for CMO. This manufacturer isn’t too well known for the quality of its panels so i was wandering if all these probs are with the a or s or c models ( if there with all 3 then bang goes that theroy.)

look at the sticker on the back of the screen and in the top right corner you will have a s for samsung or a for au optronics or c for cmo

its probaly nothing to do with it but i thought i would mention it anyway

Problem is prolly just the games don't functioning with v-sync with nVidias current release of not too brilliant drivers smile.gif What you're experiencing is merely lag of v-sync, why it happens in games that doesn't have a propper/compatible v-sync implementation.

I had the same problem and now I got it fixed. go nVIDIA control panel > manage 3d settings > vertical sync > change to it to "force on" . and that's all.

I still have the problem.
The vertical sync solution did not do anything for me.

I did found out that it is a software issue somewhere.
I installed a dual boot second install of vista and this one is working fine so there is something wrong in my original install of vista.
I don;t know what, any help would be appreciated.
