Im wondering if any can help me with the problem I keep experiencing with my newly purchased 8800GTX. As you can see from the screenie below I get massive artifacts after I have been playing for about 30-60mins, Originally i thought it was a heat problem but the card temp doesnt raise to anything higher than 67deg, If i minimise the screen quickly it goes for a few minutes but then returns, if I reboot my rig it will work fine for about 30-60mins before the same problem occurs.

I have been in touch with the supplier who has authorised an RMA, but i wanted to ask any of you guys before i send it back incase you are aware of any problem that may cause this.

My rig specs are:

BFG 8800GTX (factory overclocked 600/900)
Asus Crosshair NF590 Sli Mainboard
AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+ (Windsor Core)
2Gb Kingston HyperX PC9600 (although running on 1GB Giel atm as I had to RMA a stick of ram which didnt work, I have all the luck rolleyes.gif )
Enermax Galaxy 1000w PSU.

The Gfx card is running the latest Nvidia Drivers 158.19 (old driver removed using drive cleaner pro)

Thanks in advance for any light you may be able to shed on this

What are your temperatures of the video card and CPU? Try setting the video fan to 100% all the time.

Thanks for the quick reply mckennma as I said in the post the Gfx card temp doesnt go above 67-69deg (temp taken from Nvidia monitor as soon as problem occured) as for the CPU its watercooled & runs @ 38-40deg when playing Guild Wars, as for the fan I have set it to 100% using RivaTuner as the GPU fan controls are grey out in the Nvidia CP

I got strange effects on my 8800 GTS from a BIOS problem on my K8WE. I upgraded the BIOS and it went away. Do you have all the patches for the games applied? Try disabling AA and AF in the games. I have seen it cause strange issues. What res are you gaming at. Try setting the game to medium resolution and see if the problem exists.

Ive just upgraded the board bios, Just incase. Any patches for Guild Wars are automatically downloaded when I connect so there shouldnt be an Issue there. I currently run @ 1280x1024 res, I will diasble the AA & AF as you suggest & run the came @ slightly lower graphic quality settings.

My only concern with this is I bought this card to be able to cope with whatever game i throw at it, without compromising the quality, I dont feel that the settings I am using are something that this card cant handle.

Thanks again for the reply's mckennma ill post back l8r after ive tested it for a while.

When you troubleshoot video problems, you start with base settings. You need to determine if its a game problem, hardware, drivers, etc. So you start with default settings and turn off stuff to see if its stable. Monitor 12V rail voltage levels during gaming and temperatures.

I noticed that the fan was only running @ 60% not 100% as i previously mentioned I changed the setting to 100% & the GfX card idle temp is now @ 53deg (was 63deg)

Ok I turned off AA & AF & ran on 1280x1024res medium quality settings after about 45mins no problems, GPU temp raised to 58deg +12v rail constant @12.1-12.16v.

I then turned the AA & AF back on & raised the settings to there maximum, GPU temp stayed constant @58Deg & +12v Rail again @ 12.1-12.16v unfortunatly after about an hour the artifacts started to creep back in. I lowered the settings back down which helped slightly & after a few minutes with a minimised screen they went again @ this point i decided to call it a day 1.45am & my bed is calling smile.gif

I hate to say this, but I am beginning to suspect these graphics issues may be related to the Asus Crosshair motherboard by simple process of elimination.

I am having the EXACT same problem with my Geforce 7800 GTX card and I own the Asus Crosshair motherboard. I've tried everything possible and nothing has worked to solve these graphical problems.

Not only do I get the problem shown in your attached picture, but when I play World of Warcraft, I have the ground or environment graphics disappear and suddenly my PC/Video Card gets overwhelmed by trying to render all distances in WoW because the ground and buildings have disappeared.

I've owned the 7800 GTX card for less than 2 years and I just upgraded to the Asus Crosshair last month, installed a new harddrive with a fresh install of Windows XP and WoW and low and behold, here are the problems.
