 GEFORCE GO 7600 Driver, Screen goes black on boot |

Got a problem if anyone could help, Just redid a friends computer with original installation disks. He was getting a black screen after windows xp boot. My friend decided to half way reinstall windows messing it up so I had to fix this.
I did a clean install on windows with all the recovery disks and having the nvidia driver installed and like he described after windows boot up and before login screen the screen goes black. Went into safe mode and disabled the video card driver and everything is fine. The computer is 1 year old and no longer under any kind of warrantee. HP pavilon dv 8000 Windows media edition GEFORCE NVIDIA GO 7600 Driver date 4-15-2006 Version 8.4.5.4 Went to Hp and downloaded a driver from them, no fix. If I boot up into windows and then re enable the driver I get lots of pink dotted lines going all the way down across the board  The only other thing that I could think of is the video card going??
