Hi.
Ok, basicly its like this: i play WoW for some time and suddenly my action bar turns red, all the graphics become ugly and messed up and like all wrong, not just some small detail that you notice, you cant read anything, some graphics starts shaking and all mixed up and messed up.. the occuring time is very diffrent sometimes like as soon as i enter the game, other times i play up to 3 hours without problems... this is really strange, i dont get any errors or anything.. i thought it was my graphic card so i changed it with a older geforce 5200 FX (it was a 6700 and on that it wouldnt work at all it would be like that as soon as i opened the game) , anyways this crash just keep coming out of no where and its not when i go to a certain place its basicly evrywere anytime it can happen, sometimes im able to fix it going into the video section and messing with the resolution (its always set on the lowest 800x900 or something) and sometimes it goes back to normal(mostly) and if not ill have to reboot..i also tried to update my graphic driver(yes i did uninstall it before i installed a update) tons of times, i have reinstalled WoW but that was while i had the geforce 6700 on.. i havent tried to uninstall it with this one yet, but i have reinstalled all the patches alot of times. also i tried the windowed mode, and there is no gxApi "opengl" or direct3d in my WTF file i created a new one with OpenGL it didnt work then i tried to do Direct3d but the disoriantation/crashes kept coming.. this is frustrating i really dont know what to do and i need some advice fast please NOTE:my other games experiencing the same issue, yesterday when a WoW crash occured i went on a other game (warcraft 3) to check if it was just WoW but nope, Warcraft 3(seriously this game requires only 16mb 3d its nothing good) wouldnt even work! it has the same disoriantations! so anyways some guy from blizzard told me to remove the dust in my graphic card and try to see if its loose, which i did and you know what? it wasnt loose and there was like no dust but i still cleaned it and re-attached the 3d card, and it didnt help.. Here is a picture of the Crash/disoriantation or whatever it is that comes http://img229.imageshack.us/img229/2271/weirdgraphicsaf5.png I HAVE UPDATED MY DX ASWELL. all advice apreciated :-) thank you ------------------ System Information ------------------ Time of this report: 10/9/2007, 21:35:25 Machine name: XP Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 (2600.xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158) Language: Danish (Regional Setting: Danish) System Manufacturer: SiS System Model: 730S BIOS: Version 1.00 Processor: AMD Athlon XP 1800+, MMX, 3DNow, ~1.5GHz Memory: 512MB RAM Page File: 225MB used, 1000MB available Windows Dir: C:\WINDOWS DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904) DX Setup Parameters: Not found DxDiag Version: 5.03.2600.2180 32bit Unicode --------------- Display Devices --------------- Card name: NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 Manufacturer: NVIDIA Chip type: GeForce FX 5200 DAC type: Integrated RAMDAC Display Memory: 128.0 MB Current Mode: 1024 x 768 (32 bit) (60Hz) Monitor: Philips 107E (107E2) Monitor Max Res: 1280,1024 Driver Name: nv4_disp.dll Driver Version: 6.14.0011.6371 (English) DDI Version: 9 (or higher) Driver Attributes: Final Retail Driver Date/Size: 9/17/2007 01:07:00, 5783040 bytes WHQL Logo'd: Yes WHQL Date Stamp: n/a VDD: I/T Mini VDD: nv4_mini.sys Mini VDD Date: 9/17/2007 01:07:00, 6853088 bytes Device Identifier: {D7B71E3E-4062-11CF-286F-1EAF00C2CB35} Video Accel: ModeMPEG2_A ModeMPEG2_B ModeMPEG2_C ModeMPEG2_D ------------- Sound Devices ------------- Description: SiS 7018-wave Default Sound Playback: Yes Default Voice Playback: Yes Hardware ID: PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_7018&SUBSYS_70181039&REV_02 Type: WDM Driver Name: ac97sis.sys Driver Version: 5.01.2501.0000 (English) Driver Attributes: Final Retail WHQL Logo'd: Yes Date and Size: 8/17/2001 22:20:16, 297728 bytes Other Files: Driver Provider: Microsoft HW Accel Level: Full Cap Flags: 0xB5B Min/Max Sample Rate: 48000, 48000 Static/Strm HW Mix Bufs: 1, 0 Static/Strm HW 3D Bufs: 0, 0 HW Memory: 0 Voice Management: No EAX 2.0 Listen/Src: No, No I3DL2 Listen/Src: No, No Sensaura ZoomFX: No Registry: OK |

You updated you DX with this version of DX? How is the temps inside your case? Good air flow? Cleaned the dust bunnies out lately? I'm not talking gfx card here, since you have the same issue with 2 different cards, I am talking about CPU, RAM, and everything else.

update: ive noticed something VERY strange, when i open a game such as WoW my monitor, yeah my monitor starts making this whiny sound like when u scratch a fork on a plate, it stops a few seconds later then when i put my hand on the top of my monitor ( the upper part) and i dont have to push much just like put my hand on it it starts making the whiny sound again.. i thought it was just normal or something, so i went out of the game and put my hand on it and guess what? No whiny sound! weird! i even pushed it but there was no sound, only when i go in games...!!! personaly i think this sounds pretty unreal but can it be possible the 3D graphic crashes and disoriantations are caused by my monitor? i mean it isnt really new or anything,... so do you think it could be the monitors fault? or aint that just like crazy?crashes still occure by the way ..
REALLY FRUSTRATING PLZ HELP! |

Another thing, can you try another video card on the system? Try it on another computer if you can. You could have a bad video card. Might be time to RMA it back to whoever made your card if it's still under warranty. -------------------- EVGA X58

This sounds a lot like a hardware issue, so reinstalling Windows might not fix anything. You should reinstall Windows anyway, it's a cheaper test to figure out what's wrong, and it helps to do that from time to time anyway. |

Don't you know anyone that you could test your system with their monitor? that's the fastest way to rule if the monitor or card is at fault. By the way, when the memory on the card dies, it's not gonna put out any heat, but my one question is, is it just WoW or all the games? If it's WoW then it might be that the software is corrupted, driver or game, or whatever. That is the best case, worst case is your card's memory is dead. -------------------- EVGA X58

ive been real ignorant, today, i opened up my computer started it and checked the heat for it okay.. so i feel my graphics card, and its not really hot or anything.. so anyways i load up WoW and go in to the game, and the crash comes and goes very fast, so i notice it might be cause i removed the metal from the left side of the computer, cause it could be improving air flow.. well anyways this is first time in a long time i could play for like 8-10min without it constant crashing, then it crashes again, so , i felt my graphic card (this were like maximum 10minutes into the game) and i swear i had to pull off my hand cause that crap was burnin i quickly close WoW .. well, my gfx card has a heat sink but No fan.. so you suggest i get that? i mean hell that was like putting your hand in fire seriously.. well? myself am 99 % sure its about overheating gfx card and the issue might be solved with a fan i guess? could anyone maybe name a price for a fan or whatever cause i dont know much about it.. this gota be overheatin |

Put it in and latest drivers...try playing. Still have a problem.we can rule in a Bad AGP slot or PCI-E depending on mobo. Im still amazed you run games with 512 ram =) just kidding...its a bit low but not crippling... I still think if the Gcard is bad the Direct X test would reflect it wouldnt it (hexen??)? I think having your buddy swap in his G-card and testing would determine if your Mobo slot is bad...lets hope he has the same G-card slot type. After reading...I am leaning towards bad G-card or Ram. Run a Memory test also ontop of the Direct x. When I had a bad stick I had rebooting issues out of nowhere.... playing games for hours one day...the next 20 min into a fire fight in battlefield 2142...Reboot!...WTF =) -------------------- http://forums.slizone.com/ <----SLI newbie helper.

UPDATE: weird i notice, my screen goes black for about 1second (or less) when i open windows, right after the choose profile. this have been happening since the start but i didn't think that it could be anything that matters.. i don't know though just wanted to tell you.. anyways when i open games such as WoW my monitor makes this sound, like if you take a fork and scratch it on a plate real annoying sound, and it disapears when i go out of the game..oh yes and i checked setup when you open your computer (hit del for setup) and checked fan speed, it said cpu fan speed: 3000 something i forgot and SYSTEM fan speed: 0 <--- 0??? is that normal? |
