My problem is with nVidia drivers and I think problem is scaling. I am using 1280 X 960 resolution with 85 Hz but after 196.21, 196.34 and this 196.75 drivers I have a problem with my resolution. Screen is unclear and something wrong like blurry on Windows. I can't look the monitor so much time becuase it is making headache for me. So I am still using 195.81 driver it has no problem like these drivers above. I hope you will fix this annoying issue. Also I think it is Windows 7 only problem, I tried these new drivers on Windows XP but there is no problem like Windows 7. Is there an option to disable this new nvidia auto scaling that came with 196.21, 196.34 and this 196.75 drivers on registry or some other place? I was using custom resolution from nvidia control panel and it was working.

As far as I'm concerned, HTPC user (and exclusively HTPC, no games); 196.75 is the best release since pretty much.. EVER.

- The VMR9 zooming bug is fixed (unbelievable!!)
- The Colorspace are back to what they should be (default TV levels for the VMRs without any need to change anything in the driver anymore).
- VMR9 code seem enhanced, switching from video to video has never been faster.

The scaling option still doesn't show up for HDTV, but running "%windir%\system32\rundll32.exe NvCpl.dll, dtcfg setscaling 1 DA 5" still does the trick.

VERY HAPPY CAMPER HERE!

For once in a huge while, I'm happy to say: Thank you, nVidia.

Oops, almost forgot:

Motherboard Make/Model: Asus Maximus Formula X38
Graphics Card Model: XFX GTX 260
Number of Graphics Cards: 1
CPU Make/Model: Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6850
Memory Manufacturer/Model: Geil Esoteria
Number of Memory Modules: 2 (2x2GB)
Power Supply Make/Model: Seasonic S12-600
Operating System: Windows 7 X64
Monitor(s) Make/Model: Mitsubishi CRT DiamondTron 2060u
Other Peripherals: Creative Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro

My problem is with PCI-e 2.0. It is a problem across many manufacturers, and many models of motherboards. From Intel X38, X48 and X58, to even some of the AMD chipsets. Asus, Gigabyte, Intel, MSI, etc. all have affected boards.

The problems is shown in some detail here:
http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=153911
and also here
http://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx?id=20091026025645328

It affects quite a few Nvidia drivers, like shown in the topics above. 186.18 is the last drivers I know of where it worked properly. 196.75 still shows only PCI-e 1.1 mode working (picture at bottom of post). I would appreciate any information you can provide on this issue, whether it can be fixed by Nvidia, or it really does need the manufacturers to update their BIOS.

Despite this one issue, I am really pleased with Nvidia drivers. I have not had them crash even once since early Vista beta days.

Is NVIDIA ever going to implement down clocking features for the primary gpu when you have multiple displays in SLI?
Possibly rearrange things so the second monitor can be plugged into the second gpu when SLI is enabled for down clocking to work on both cards with multi monitors.

This like every driver after 190.45 gives BSOD after the usual drivers are not responding message, takes about 10 seconds from getting to the desktop screen, affects both Vista\Win7 same way (dual boot).

Installed driver to a new windows installation same thing happens, install safe mode, still get same result, these are using drivers from the UK nvidia website.

Ever since installing 196.21 WHQL my GFX card refuses to send a video signal after the XP Boot Screen; this new driver doesn't fix the issue. I'm dealing with poor performance in a number of newer games, and it's causing some issues with Battlefield Bad Company 2 in addition to the frame rates. I've searched all over and can't find a fix to this problem, but I sure can find tons of people with the same issue, shame Nvidia hasn't responded. I'm going to call BFG, but they shouldn't be the ones to have to solve this for me.

I havn't used these drivers yet. Can anyone tell me if the "resize desktop" option when using a dvi to hdmi cable is re-enabled in this driver? If it isn't then I will have to stay with my 182.50 driver for a bit longer.

"To avoid this situation and provide a better user experience, the driver treats certain TVs–
such as the Viewsonic VX2835wm and the Westinghouse LVM‐ 37w3–as a DVI monitor
when applying the native mode."

why was not my screen included in this , when you have made the exception for the 2 listed on the pdf for this latest release,

where are the contact details to send you guys this card, im getting really angry , this whole situation is ridiculous, i have wsted my time reporting my problems and nothing has been done.

Drivers seems good, stable & fast for me....but no Nvidia Surround. sad.gif

Edit: A few of points of note

  • Driver install finished without prompting for restart - nice, but...
  • Reboot required to get SLI working again - didn't have to do anything else
  • 3D Vision IR emitter driver wasn't properly installed with the drivers - had to reinstall from the 1.20 CD release & then run the 3D Vision setup from the new driver release to update and get it all working again.

I cannot get these drivers to install properly. Once it just hung up mid way through, the other three times, it seems to install yet I have no nVidia control panel, cannot start a game and in my device manager the drivers appear and are up to date but there is an exclamation about them not being digitally signed. Also, DXDiag is not showing any information for my graphics card now. The card is the Geforce 9800 GX2 with 4 GB of RAM.

This is the link I'm downloading from:

You need to contact the company that produced the card, NVIDIA does not sell the cards directly and has sold you nothing. Most companies have very easy RMA processes, yours is no different. No idea how long they warranty their products for, but I'm sure they'll tell you.

Automatic Fanspeed Control isn't working on my 8600 GTS. It was working fine in the last driver. I just noticed it and had to force it too 100%. My temperature was 95 degrees celcius and the fan was still at 30%

I am pleased to say that the stuttering problem in Crysis, and Crysis Warhead is fixed. The frames have even gone up by an average of 3 frames with the 196.75. There is one minor hiccup however. You have to play Crysis in 32bit mode for it not to stutter. Crysis Warhead plays smoothly, and without stutter on either 32 or 64bit modes. So thank you guys for getting to this in just a few weeks. I hope all others who were having the same problem are having a stutter free game play experience.

Also all other games have returned to the same performance level as on the 191.07. So that is good news as well. All in all this driver rocks, and I can play BF Bad Company 2, BioShock 2, and all other new and old games with great frames… hahaha inculding Crysis with this new driver. Finally smile.gif.
