Running Windows 7 Ultimate Retail with latest driver version.
My card is an 8800GT. I am using the TV-Out with a normal composite (Yellow) cable to go out to a standard definition TV (4:3, 28", plugged into TV directly, not using any sort of RF modulator.) In the past, I've been able to use TV out and could adjust the display size to account for overscan on my TV. The problem in the past was always that the picture would overscan too much, but now it's the opposite. It's so weird, and there's no rhyme or reason to it, but here is what happens: 1. The picture always starts in a small box on my screen. It is 4:3 AR, but much too small, so I go into the control panel to scale it up. 2. I go into the screen size and position section for the TV, hit the +, and one of 3 things happens depending on which resolution I am at: A. The picture shrinks into an even smaller box (Just weird that it would do this when asked to enlarge) B. The picture enlarges slightly but also changes to 16:9 letterbox format. (Perfect except that AR change) C. The picture does nothing. (Banged my head on the wall a little.) I can't remember which resolutions and circumstances caused each outcome, but I am pretty sure anyone with the same card and a TV could play around with it and have the same issues. I've tried this on multiple TV's, it's always the same. For fullscreen 4:3 video, I can make do with getting situation B and then just blowing the picture up more and more until the left and right sides are cut off, but that is hardly a solution. More like a word-around. Ideally, I would like to be able to move, resize, and set the Aspect Ratio on my TV Out as I see fit. Right now it is very unfriendly, not to mention misbehaving. I'm off to bed... if I'm lucky, someone may have some input for me here. :) |

Sad to see no one has commented or anything... From what I have seen, nVidia doesn't really care about TV-Out users, though. I think they want us all to move on to TV's with HDMI and DVI connections. Some of us just aren't there, yet, though.
So I am doing this one time bump, then letting this thread fall into oblivion. |
