This is the card I've been waiting to upgrade my 8800GT's too, but I'm afraid they're going to jack up the prices. -------------------- ![]() |

I like the scores, if you can achieve this without any sort of overclock.
The card looks pretty tempting, But still I'm going to wait for the 350GTX -------------------- The Rig: EVGA 790I Ultra FTW C2D E6750 @ 3.4Ghz OCZ Platinum DDR3 1600Mhz 2 X 8800Ultra Sli Thermaltake 750Watt PSU Thermaltake Armor LCS Case Gone for a while now I'm back again. The card looks pretty tempting, But still I'm going to wait for the 350GTX The 55nm's will have a premiuim for a few weeks as older 65nm stock clears and because they have a 10% power jump but with a 2GB vram 4870, and or 4875 due any moment and rumours of the 5870 due in Q1 2009 the 55NM versions of the 260-280 should be alot cheaper in Q1 2009. We are now less than 6 months from the GTX 300 with 400 SP's and 2GB VRAM most probably GDDR5 with the 400 sp's most probably being a 55-40nm core (probably would have to be that small not to implode with heat the darn things gunna be 2 billion transitors+!) So if you can wait till late Jan the 55nm's should be no more than a standard 260-280 are now. And hopefully it won't be long till they are 10%+ less than the 65nm parts are now. -------------------- ![]() V Ult 64, QX9650 4GHZ, GTX 280 Sli, Razer Megladon 7.1 USB, SSD+Raptor Raid 0, EVGA 790i Black Pearl. 120" Optoma 1080p DLP 100Hz, 30" Acer 1080p N3D 120 HZ, 26" iiyama LCD 1200p 60Hz. So is there anything else Nvidia did to the die-shrunk GTX 280? I heard earlier that they were packing more transistors into the core to give an extra performance boost.

I find it really annoying the way Nvidia plan out graphs like that, making it look better than it actually is to draw in newbs.

Yes, starting the graph at 80% does make the scale misleading. May as well start at 95%, then they'd appear 200% faster!

yeh its a simple marketing ploy but the graph is mathematicaly wrong. all axis must start at 0 and is there is a jump is has to be displayed with a like zig zag mark. otherwise the the visuals in terms of the size of the bars are grossly misleading when comapring it with the axis making any noob beleive the card is upto 40% beter than the gtx 280
