These guides are to help those who are new or even experienced in overclocking. I did not write any of these guides in any part, I am only giving the locations to where you can download them. Also remember it is up to you to have proper cooling before attempting any overclocking.

680i Chipset (Refer here for 780i and 790i chipsets...very similar bios): http://www.nvidia.com/docs/CP/45121/nforce...verclocking.pdf

590 SLI Chipset: http://www.nvidia.com/content/nforce5/DU-0...verclocking.pdf

If your Motherboard holds one of these chipsets. I recommend that you first read over this guide before trying to perform any overclocking.

If you have any questions please feel free to ask after you have fully read the guide.

Also it would be nice if this was stickied for constant reference for those who need it.

EDIT:
Reference for 780i and 790i chipsets.

Please read through entire thread. There are a lot of various links and information that are very informative.

For overclocking your Graphics Card get RivaTuner 2.06 or whatever the most recent version is. Then install the latest revision of your graphics driver from nVidia. Once everything is installed read this guide located here:
http://www.tweakguides.com/NVFORCE_11.html

Also you will want to modify your RivaTuner to allow you to increase your shader clock, follow this guide here:
http://www.guru3d.com/newsitem.php?id=5958

Also download nTune to use NVMonitor to monitor your GPU temperatures. The max safe temperature for the G80 is 120C.

Once you have set your desired clock rate, run 3dmark03 and 3dmark06 and compare to your previous results before you overclocked the cards. Remember to overclock slow. this isn't a race, it takes a lot of time to fine that optimal setting. Also play Oblivion and Crysis (2 gfx demanding games) on very high settings for at least an hour walk around and look and see if any artifacts become present. If they do, your clocks are too high, and you need to lower them.

Remember your overclock can pass 3dMark, but then give you errors in game, so do not use benchmarking tools alone to determine your settings.

Well I hope these guides help you out. Let me know if you have any questions.

One thing to note these guides on overclocking a video card are NOT authorized by nVidia. But have been proven to work by users.

Just to clear somethings up. On figure 6 the fsb qdr, Mhz that will only mess with the cpu, north bridge and south bridge. 1066 is a 266 FSB speed so if I change it to 1333 with multiplier of 8 the cpu run at 2.66. I have already disabled all the features I needed too, changed the volts and unlink my memory. I think im ready to O.C.???

P.S. every time I read a psot from Tofu Guy it all ways has good info on it. Thanks Tofu guy

I plan to buy a 680i board one day so hopefully this will come in handy, thank you.
But, for now i have a 939 Nforce4 sli board, do you know of or have any guides like this one for this chipset?

For the nForce4 board, there should be similar settings, so follow what you can, the general overclocking process is the same always. So look for an "Advance Chipset Settings" tab or equivalent in your bios and go from there. nVidia never published a guide for the nForce4 board, and I have never had any direct experience with the board.

Yes with that muliplier setting you will get 2.66GHz. Remember the fsb speed you adjust is before the division by 4.

So, 1333/4 = 333.25 then multiply by your "multiplier" (this case 8) so, 333.25 * 8 = 2666 MHz core speed.

And thanks for the compliment. I am glad I can help you out.

The 680a bios should be very similar to the 680i, follow the 680i guide and go from there. If you have any questions with specific settings, just ask :)

1440 is what i had to set it at to achieve 1200 MHz for my ram. Otherwise the link would be off and give me 1190 or so.

I us pc probe II to check my volts and temps and it is saying that my 1.2vht, sb core , nb core, cpu vtt and memory is at 4.08 volts is there another program to check volts. because I think my computer would be dead by now if it is at that volts.

yeah pc probe by asus is horrible.

Download NTune, and then in your nVidia Control Panel launch NVMonitor.

How did you get the extra 0.23 on the CPU OC then? I figured 1442 equals 3.2GHz? I can't go that high with my RAM and will leave it at 800 ;)

My core clock is 3240 MHz with a fsb of 1440 MHz. I didn't go with the actual conversion of 1024 MHz = 1 GHz.

FSB: 1600MHz
vcore: 1.51V
FSB Voltage: 1.4V or 1.5V You have to test your stability here (If not stable at 1.4V boost to 1.5V)
Unlink your Ram and FSB and set Ram speed accordingly.
Make sure you have a good aftermarket cooling. 3600 MHz only works well with Watercooling and maybe the thermalright ultra 120 extreme. I only clock to 3600MHz during benching. I stay at 3.2GHz 24/7.

how hot does it run @ 3.6 on (air)? And how much would i increase the ram clock to improve the processor if im using Corsair DDR2 2GB PC-6400/800 (2xXMS2 1GB) with 5-5-5-18 timings

I am at 37C per core on coretemp, and 36C on NVMonitor. (IDLE)

Around 67C per core/ 68C NVM. (FULL Load for 1 hour)

Try reducing the timings and running something like sp2004 to see how it handles. no BSOD/freezing is what you are looking for.

As for actual speed, you won't notice much of a difference between 800 and 867MHz. Timings will help your benchmarking more.
